25.09.2014. Cyprus provides new residence permits for ‘offshore’ staff

The new residence permit document will be fitted with biometric features, such as fingerprints and other electronically-stored data. As of 25 August 2014, the Civil Registry and Migration Department (CRMD) announced that it will be issuing special residence permits for third country nationals who are employed or wish to be employed by foreign-owned companies who have offices on the island. The statement by the CRMD specifies that the companies in question must be owned by third country nationals.

“It must be noted that all residence permits already issued shall remain in force until their expiry,” the announcement said.
